How do I add the license number for my property in Japan?

About property licenses in Japan

All hosts of single-unit and multi-unit homes in Japan require a license in order to rent out their properties. Learn more about property-types here. The property license number is a 10-digit number assigned by local authorities. Each property will have its own license. To learn more or apply, visit the Japan Tourism Agency’s website.

Adding your property license

Single-unit homes:

Sign in to YCS. If you manage multiple properties, select it from Listings.
Go to Property >> Rental license.
Enter all required details, including your license type, license number, and full legal name.
Click Save.

Multi-unit homes:

Sign in to YCS. If you manage multiple properties, select it from Listings.
Go to Property >> Property settings.
Go to Useful information and input your License Id / Local Tax ID/ Entity Name under The property section.
Click Save.

Please do not intentionally enter false information. Doing so may lead to penalties from national and local regulations. License information provided by you will be displayed on your property page on Agoda and will be subject to inspection by the regulators. Agoda reserves the right to deactivate any property that is found to have missing or false license information.

How do I apply for a license number?

Please visit the Japan Tourism Agency’s website to apply for your license. Once you receive the license for your property, you can add it to your Agoda listing following the steps above.

Do I need a separate license number for each of my properties?

Yes, you will need to obtain a license number for each listing.

What happens if I intentionally enter false information?

This may result in penalties from national and local regulators, and Agoda will unlist any property discovered to be unlicensed.

If my listing is unlisted for not having a license number, how do I relist?

Once you have received your license, simply share it with Agoda in order to relist your property on our site.

If my listing is unlisted for not having a license, will Agoda automatically cancel my reservations?

Agoda reserves the right to unlist unlicensed properties. Please only accept bookings when you a) intend to honor and b) are legally allowed to accept bookings.

Will I still be able to access the payout page if my property is unlisted?

Yes, you can still access your payout page and receive any payable funds as long as your account has not been deleted.
